Mermaid Update

I hope everyone had a good weekend!

Last week I worked on Mediterranean Mermaid. I made some progress, but one night I fell asleep at 8:30pm. In my defense, the tornado sirens woke me up that morning at 3:30am, and I could not fall back asleep. Another night, I went to a glass fusion glass with some friends, and I made a glass plate and pendant. I will try to post a picture when I get it back. The class was a lot of fun. Anyway, below is a picture of Meddie. I am getting towards the end :)

This morning I was happily stitching away on Japanese Garden, and then I went to thread my needle with Mississippi Mud from Thread Gatherer Silk N Colors, and it had the zebra stripe thing going on. Instead of being a smooth dark brown the color alternated between dark and light brown, and the same thing with the green. I looked at the rest of the skein, and it appeared to have the zebra stripe. What I don't get is that I have been using the same skein of thread, and up until now, the thread was fine (I received my kit last March or so). I do not care for the effect in my stitching (the colors seem a little off), and I am going to order a new skein hoping that it turns out better.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

IHSW January

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

I stitched (of course!), did a little clothes shopping with my mom, and took my new niece's baby sampler and Snowflake Serenade to the framers.

For IHSW, I worked on Moyland Castle. My silks have not arrived yet so there are a lot of random empty spots that will need to be filled in when they do arrive-I can't wait! The castle is coming along, but there are so many different shades of brown, gray, and gray-brown. I will be happy when this section is finished.

I would like to welcome my new followers, and I hope you enjoy my little corner of the universe :) Have a great week, and I look forward to reading everyone's IHSW posts!

Japanese Garden and my nieces

My update is a little late this week because I went to visit my new niece. She is such a cutie and looks like her older sister, but with darker hair. Here are a few pictures:
The newest one: Harper

Her older sister Olivia:

I worked on Japanese Garden and finished the top right corner ornament this week. It took me a bit longer to finish it because I was distracted. My mom recommend a book for me to read, and once I started reading, I had a hard time putting it down. It is Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. The book is quite the page-turner, and I have about a third of it left.

So this weekend is IHSW-check out the right side bar. I'm excited for some stitching time, and I will be working on Moyland Castle. Hopefully it will start looking like an actual castle after this weekend : )

Have a great weekend and have fun stitching!

Mediterranean Mermaid Update

I hope everyone had a great weekend! We had a relaxing weekend, and it was nice not having to travel out of town. Yesterday, I made a coffee-pecan torte with coffee-flavored whipped cream. The great thing about the dessert was that there was no flour in it. The cake was ground pecans, eggs, and sugar. It was yummy!

My newest niece was born last Thursday. She weighed 8 lbs and 1 ounce, and has the cutest, chubbiest cheeks. I can't wait to meet her (probably next week)! I guess I should go ahead and finish up the baby sampler : )

I worked on Meddie last week. I love the greens in her tail, and she is so sparkly!

Have a great week and thanks for stopping by!

2012 Stitching Plans

My stitching plans for the upcoming year-they may change too : )

I plan to finish:

Mediterranean Mermaid

Halloween Rules

Japanese Garden

 New Starts:

Moyland Castle by Chatelaine-already started! If you can't wait to see a pic, scroll down to the bottom : )

Melody by Nora Corbett (the fabric is more of a light aqua green-not the color in the picture)

Lady Hera by Mirabilia-or maybe Lady Alexandra or September Sapphire Fairy. I am having trouble deciding which one to start. I also can't figure out what fabric I should use for Lady Hera. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!

Hillside Travelers by Little House Needleworks

Autumn Band Sampler by Little House Needleworks

Little House Needleworks Christmas ornaments

And a few other starts too : )

Lastly, my start on Moyland Castle. I am stitching it on 28 count ivory jobelan. Fortunately, the castle has a lot of DMC in it, and I can work on those sections until my kit arrives from European Cross-Stitch Company. I am definitely looking forward to receiving all those beautiful silks and beads!

Last finish of 2011

Happy New Year!

I wanted to say thanks for all the kind and supportive comments I have received since starting my blog last year. I also look forward to reading all your wonderful blogs and seeing all of your beautiful cross-stitch pictures this year.

Here is my last finish of 2011. I started it while we were in Chicago for Christmas (it was an easy project to take with me while traveling) and finished it up on New Year's Eve. It is January by Little House Needleworks.

Thanks for stopping by!!
